ทุกปีจะมีคนเสียชีวิตจากอาการอัมพาตถึงกว่าปีละหกล้านคน มากกว่าการตายจากโรคเอดส์ วัณโรคและมาเลเรียรวมกันเสียอีก เฉพาะในประเทศไทยเองมีคนตายจากโรคหลอดเลือดสมองโดยเฉลี่ยถึงวันละเกือบ 40 ราย หากคุณไม่อยากเป็นหนึ่งในนั้น ก็ควรมาทำความรู้จักกับโรคนี้และหาวิธีป้องกันไว้ก่อนดีกว่า
โรคอัมพฤกษ์ อัมพาต หรือโรคหลอดเลือดสมองนี้เป็นโรคที่เกิดจากการที่สมองได้รับเลือดไปเลี้ยงไม่เพียงพอ ทำให้สูญเสียการควบคุมการทำงานของร่างกาย แบ่งออกเป็นหลอดเลือดสมองตีบหรืออุดตัน และอีกชนิดก็คือหลอดเลือดสมองแตก ผู้ที่มีความเสี่ยงมากก็จะเป็นในกลุ่มผู้ที่เป็นโรคเบาหวาน ไขมันในเลือดสูง ความดันโลหิตสูง มีกรรมพันธ์เป็นโรคหลอดเลือดสมอง กลุ่มคนอ้วน ไม่ค่อยได้ออกกำลังกาย รวมไปถึงผู้ที่สูบบุหรี่เป็นประจำและผู้ที่มีภาวะหัวใจเต้นผิดจังหวะด้วย ผู้ที่อยู่ในกลุ่มเสี่ยงที่กล่าวมานี้ควรใส่ใจสุขภาพให้มากขึ้น จะป้องกันได้กว่าร้อยละ 80 ควรปฏิบัติตามดังต่อไปนี้
1. ควบคุมน้ำหนักตัวอย่าให้อ้วนเกินมาตรฐาน โดยให้มีค่าดัชนีมวลกายอยู่ที่ 18.5-22.9 กิโลกรัมต่อตารางเมตร
2. ลดอาหารหวาน มัน เค็ม แล้วทานผักและผลไม้ไม่หวาน รวมไปถึงธัญพืชต่าง ๆ ให้มากขึ้น
3. หากตนเองเป็นโรคเบาหวาน ความดันโลหิตสูง ไขมันในเลือดสูง หรือโรคอื่น ๆ ก็ควรเข้ารับการตรวจรักษาจากแพทย์และปฏิบัติตามคำแนะนำ
4. ออกกำลังกายอย่างน้อยวันละครึ่งชั่วโมง อาทิตย์ละ 3-4 วัน
5. งดการดื่มเหล้า และการสูบบุหรี่ รวมไปถึงควันบุหรี่มือสองด้วย
6. เรียนรู้อาการเตือนของโรคหลอดเลือดสมองไว้ โดยสังเกตว่ามีอาการดังต่อไปนี้หรือไม่
– ใบหน้า ยิ้มแล้วมุมปากตกข้างใดข้างหนึ่ง
– แขน ยกแขนไม่ขึ้นข้างใดข้างหนึ่ง
– การพูด มีปัญหาการพูดแม้จะเป็นประโยคสั้น ๆ หรือพูดแล้วคนอื่นฟังไม่รู้เรื่อง
หากมีอาการเหล่านี้ให้รีบไปให้ถึงโรงพยาบาลภายในสามชั่วโมง จะช่วยรักษาชีวิตและฟื้นฟูร่างกายให้กลับมาเป็นปกติหรือใกล้เคียงได้มากที่สุด
